In preparation for the VJ and projection mapping performance, my idea surrounds the vision of many faces, representing the concept of overpopulation in the way that we continually meet hundreds of people or even pass many people. Yet, the ways of a digital world have become impersonal. This idea will also aim to incorporate notions and ideas inspired by Georege Orwells 1984 through the concept of "big brother is watching you."
By bringing abstract face sketches to life through an animation of lines and glitch effects, I will incorporate original animation and footage of broken TVs and the security cameras' red dot. I also want to include live camera footage during the performance to represent and tie together the concept and story of overpopulation to portray the idea of "big brother is watching you." (Creepy. Still, this puts the message across)
For creating these animations, I will digitally draw the designs and then animate them in photoshop and procreate. If available, I would like to incorporate animating in after effects. In addition, I aim to gather more footage of people walking through crowds to layer over other footage in VDMX, using effects such as broken TV, RGB invert, and kaleidoscope.
As for projection mapping these videos onto an object, mannequins, or human sculptures would be interesting as their faces would evolve and project an abstract human face, which could present robotic glitching humans living among society. This idea could develop further by projecting onto greek god sculptures such as Artemis, Athena, Dionysus, etc., bringing the ancient world to life through digital art.
